Moving mandala

Generative illustrations created as part of the Nature of Code class at NYU ITP ( Spring 2017).

DESIGN & PROCESS

The illustrations use the Gravitational law of attraction and vectors to construct self-sketching mandalas. What you see above is a time-lapse of how the transformation takes place.

The idea behind the design was to create something that looks imperfect and hand-drawn, which is how mandalas are generally created in India. The effect is produced by using points and connecting them instead of making the vector plot a perfect trajectory.
