Let's Talk

Let's talk

Let's Talk is an animated short film about the importance of open conversation with someone battling depression.

This film was created for World Health Day, 2017 in collaboration with the Department of Psychology, Columbia University.

INTRODUCTION

1 in 10 young adults suffers from depression in the United States.  However, most people are yet hesitant to approach the topic and talk about it. Mental health is still perceived as a pseudo illness by many. The intent of this short film is to normalize conversations around depression.

Perhaps, a depressed individual might be ready to talk about it, perhaps she or he might be not. Regardless, displaying that one is there to listen and help them through it gives them someone to fallback on, which is crucial. It gives them an opportunity to find a way out of repression of feelings and prolonged suffering.
